Its back to Hawaii for me

I'm moving back to Hawaii on June 7th. I don't know what happened with my parents, but my mom got a call for a job in Hawaii a few days ago. She summited her application and now we are flying out in a few days. We have to leave my dog behind with a cousin. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but I need to get out of Wisconsin. I guess all my complaining about living in the country has rubbed off on my parents. They are even sort of excited to go. We found that our tickets are only going to be 500 dollars a peice. I have to change all my social security shit down to Hawaii. I have lots to do in the next few days. So I better get to it. Sorry so shot. I will update tomorrow.

Have your parents got 2 houses one in Wisconsin one in Hawaii?

Why on earth do you have to leave the dog behind. You can send dogs by airmail, I'm sure you can. You need to tie the dog's legs together with string. Staple the ears together. Wrap up in brown paper. Address carefully to sender. Hope the doggie does not wriggle too much in transit, else paper shall fall off and address might get lost. Hope poor swine does not arrive too dehydrated, starved or exhausted ... Simple!

No, you send it in a crate, c'mon. Surely you took the dog FROM Hawaii. Are you not allowed to send it back? Do they have a one-way dog-law or something..?

No my parents don't have two houses, when my mom gets a job in Hawaii they pay for housing. So all the money she makes in Hawaii goes to her. She doesn't have to pay any bills.

As for Eleanor my dog, to get a dog to Hawaii you have to put the dog thru quartine to make sure the dog doesn't have rabies. Its a hundered and forty days quartine. I wouldn't put her in a cage for that long. I would be like jail was for me. Hawaii is a rabies free island. Last time we were able to bring her, because my dad had put her through quartine with him. She can be in quartine at home in Wisconsin. You just have to bring her to the vet once a week.

Well I'm happy for you Anna! Hopefully things will start looking up for you since you wanted outta the damn 'country' so bad! It's been between 80-90 degrees here in Pittsburgh,PA. and I can't stand it!! I don't know how you deal with the heat in Hawaii!!

Yeah we do quarantine here... or used to until recently with the introduction of doggie passports. They mean you microchip your pet and are allowed in and out of about 10 European countries.

We are "supposed" not to have rabies here either... except for cases like a rabid BAT flying over from France... etc etc. Also sheep, cows, horses etc have been moved across for years without quarantine...

Then again I have never heard of a rabid horse %-/...

I thought America was rabies-free. For some reason ...

140 days is steep, considering the poor dog has done nothing. I wouldn't put my tiny terrier through quarantine either... which is one reason I never got one. Because I want to travel in the future and the poor swine wouldn't be allowed to come with me :-{...
